Booth and Cleanup in McKinney Park

  • Bonnie Wenk Park 2996 Virginia Parkway McKinney, TX, 75071 United States (map)

One Earth One Chance has an exhibit to demonstrate zero waste activities, draw attention to Climate Change and its impact, and showcase actions we can take to keep our community clean and green. We will also conduct a litter clean up with Charities2Love and SAAVETX in the park to demonstrate proper waste disposal.

We are hosting an interactive booth to prepare grow kits using cow pots, organic soil and native plant seeds. You will have the opportunity to win organic native flowering perennial plants for your spring garden and green merchandise.

Why trails? Because they’re more than paths through a park, they’re powerful tools for environmental education and conservation. Research shows that trails connect people to nature, increasing environmental awareness, physical well-being, and mental health. Exposure to natural environments has been linked to reduced stress and stronger ecological stewardship. Green spaces often protect waterways. Trails are frequently located within riparian corridors, natural buffers that filter pollutants, reduce erosion, and manage stormwater runoff, improving water quality downstream. Trails also support wildlife. The natural areas surrounding trails provide habitat for pollinators, birds, and other local species, contributing to urban biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Gloves and shovels will be provided, but bring a reusable bottle of water and wear sunscreen and bug spray. Participants should wear appropriate clothes to work in – shoes will get dirty and muddy.
