Cleanup to remove plastic and trash pollution as a part of the Great American Cleanup (GAC). Keep Southlake Beautiful staff members will be on-site to provide materials and tools! Volunteers can arrive at 8:00 AM to pick up their supplies and enjoy coffee and bagels with staff and volunteers. You will choose a street at registration and can then go to your designated cleanup location. Participants can return their litter bags, vests, and grabbers afterwards to be properly discarded after cleaning up. Participants must provide their transportation to and from their cleanup locations! Your participation in this community litter cleanup helps protect parks, waterways and wildlife while improving the visual appeal of our cities.

Litter Cleanup Instructions:

1. Meet at the pre-arranged meeting place before the cleanup.

2. Sign volunteer release form (every volunteer must sign) and waiver for some activities.

3. Obtain cleanup supplies - litter bags, vests, gloves and grabbers.

4. Go over safety tips and cleanup instructions. An adult must accompany children under 14 at all times. Always work in groups of two or more and exchange contact numbers if your group decides to separate. Always sanitize your hands after a cleanup. During and after collecting litter, do not touch your face with gloved or unsanitized hands. Watch your step and use solid branches or stones to support yourself when walking over uneven and slippery surfaces.

5. Complete cleanup project. If you are cleaning a park or a creek, please remember that this is a place where a variety of animals, insects and unusual plants live. Please observe but do not disturb.

6. Return to the meeting place with empty and full litter bags, vests, and grabbers. Secure all collected litter in provided trash bags and be sure to tie the bag once it is full. Check out with the group leader.

What to Wear/Bring:

• Wear thick-soled, closed-toe shoes for trails (dud boots and waders are more appropriate for creeks).

• Wear a hat and sunscreen

• Wear long pants and long-sleeved, light colored shirts to avoid contact with thickets, thorns, poison ivy, or dirt

• Bring hand sanitizer and bug repellant.

• Bring water in a reusable water bottle and sling.
