Planting for a cooler, greener Dallas City Council District 11! On November 22, we’re proud to have teamed up with @Energy Transfer, @Texas Trees Foundation, and @Dallas Park & Recreation to plant 50 trees at Anderson Bonner Park, a park that is frequently visited due to White Rock Creek Trail running through it.
Why it matters: Dallas studies show urban heat islands in some neighborhoods can be 8–10 °F hotter than tree-filled areas. By planting new trees here, we’re helping reduce summer heat, limit air pollutants from adjacent 635 and 75 highways, and build resilience in a historically under-canopied part of the city.
These efforts also support Dallas’s broader goal to raise its urban tree canopy from ~32% in 2021 to 37% by 2040. Together, we’re not just beautifying a park, but we’re investing in long-term health and sustainability.
