The park is just east of White Rock Lake but has not been blessed with the same resources and has very limited tree cover despite the high traffic in the area. To improve the park and ensure its visitors have a healthy and cool space we plan to plant 50 trees at the park.
As part of JSOM’s Day of Service, we’re continuing our impact with a Day Two opportunity rooted in sustainability and community care. OEOC is partnering with the Texas Trees Foundation, for a hands-on tree planting and restoration project that helps build a greener, healthier North Texas.
Whether you're passionate about the environment or just love being outside, this is your chance to leave a lasting legacy in your own backyard and transform outdoor spaces for health and resilience.
What You'll Be Doing:
Planting trees in designated community or urban green spaces
Spreading mulch and learning about the importance of urban forestry and canopy equity
What to Bring:
Closed-toed shoes and outdoor-friendly clothing
Gloves (some will be provided)
Water bottle and sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
A team spirit and willingness to get your hands dirty
